Top 6 Underrated Co-op Games You Need to Play Right Now
Let’s be honest, sometimes we just get tired of the grind in our usual multiplayer games like Valorant, Fortnite, and Destiny. That’s where co-op games come in, allowing you to sit back, relax, and just chill with your gaming buddies.
Exciting! (Emocionante!)
I’ve genuinely had a great experience playing these co-op games, and I urge you to try the ones you can convince your gaming pals to play with you. Most of these games don’t have couch co-op, so you’ll need a reliable internet connection.
I personally use Optimum and have never had an issue, especially with speeds and lag while gaming. Their customer support is also top-notch, and, as a Spanish speaker, I appreciate that they offer Spanish language support. The ever-ready Optimum servicio al cliente 24 horas, available for quick assistance, allows me to stay on top of the game.
But, you’re here for games. So, let’s run, jump, craft, scream, and fight with these six co-op games that you need to play.
Lethal Company
At first, I didn’t expect it, but this game offers a unique experience with some terrifying moments where all I could hear were panicked screams of my friends as a life-sized Nutcracker chased them down a dimly-lit hallway.
The game is about a team that has to scavenge abandoned locations to collect scrap material. You’ll find soon enough that these locations aren’t as abandoned as they seem; you’ll encounter monsters with distinctive personalities and traits.
If you love horror games that have moments of pure chaos and madness as well as a ton of humor, then this is your game. While this game is meant for multiplayer, playing this game solo will reward you with a unique experience.
And if you had fun playing Lethal Company, you’ll love the last game on this list.
Chained Together
Do you love games that make you rage but are extremely fun to play? Well, my friend, you need to play Chained Together.
You start your journey in the lowest level of hell with up to three other players. The goal is simple: climb to the highest part and escape hell. This game requires a lot of coordination to jump the platforms and solve the puzzles.
While the game can be played solo, I highly recommend playing with a buddy (or three) since the game is meant for multiplayer. You can also play local multiplayer with two players on the same PC.
Marvel Rivals
As a fan of Marvel, I always wanted a proper team-based shooter that took full advantage of the amazing line-up of characters.
This game has a great environment design and features gameplay similar to Overwatch. The hero (and villain) synergy is something I, as a Marvel fan, only dreamt of. The environments are partially destructible and the characters can use their powers to alter them.
NetEase, the developer and publisher, has promised seasonal drops, which will bring new heroes and villains to the game, along with new maps.
One Steam review captures my feelings about this game perfectly. It said: “I don’t think it’s as good as Overwatch was, but it’s better than Overwatch is.”
Terraria
I feel like everyone knows about Minecraft, but not a lot know about this gem, which for me, is infinitely more replayable than Minecraft.
The game blends elements from classic 2D action games with the freedom you get with sandbox games. You’ll be in charge of carving your journey since the worlds are randomly generated, meaning that you never know what type of world you’ll play in, when you start a new game.
Not only that, the game gets free content updates and can run on low-powered hardware, making it the perfect game to play, even on your old potato laptop.
Rust
Rust is one of the cruelest games you’ll find on Steam, and that makes it one of the most compelling games to play.
You start the game with just a torch and a rock. To survive, you have to gather materials, build shelter, and find food. You’ll have to build your bases and control the limited resources on the island. The best part about this game is that there are practically no rules.
You make your own rules, and it’s up to you, your friends, and other players whether they want to follow them.
Phasmophobia
A game about getting scared with friends has never been this fun. This four-player co-op game has you and your team investigating paranormal activity in various locations.
You’ll start off investigating a location that can be haunted by one of 20 ghost types, each with its traits, abilities, and traits. You have ghost-hunting equipment you can use to gather clues and get information.
The best part about this game is its voice chat. The ghosts can hear you as well, so you can communicate with them. This is one of the best games you can play with your friends right now, and I highly recommend it, especially if you’re a horror fan.
So, here are my picks for some of the best co-op games. Do you have more suggestions for games I should play? Make sure you leave them in the comments below.
